Golden Pages Europe
As a result of the growing use of the internet and the rapid rise in other directories being published, Golden Pages of Europe (printed in four languages) needed to improve their product in order to maintain and increase market share.
We worked both in Belgium and in Florida with Gouden Gids
marketing executives to craft a new design that would improve
usability:
by reducing the book's size; improve readability with
superior typography; and create new and improved options for
advertisers.
A considerable element to the project was improving the books navigation. Thinking outside the box we employed some new navigational design based on modern Web navigation that helps the reader find their way through the book faster.
We also designed new advertising options that provide the publisher with new revenue opportunities.
Ideas like restaurant and hotel guides and Website information boxes that encourage readers to visit the Golden Pages site where they can view more detailed information from the advertiser.
Feedback from users was extremely positive and sales were increased despite the general downturn in print directory usage.
