The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center is one of the top five performing arts centers in the United States. For several years the marketing group had tried to position TBPAC as "The Center" without much success. There was a disconnect between the logo and what people actually called it: TBPAC.
I was commissioned to rationalize the identity to emphasize the name that was in common usage, and to simplify the mark so that it could be more successfully implemented both in large and small sizes and in one, two and full color. Research showed that the stars were a familiar element of the old logo and so it was decided to keep one star.
